Elim Tragedy

One of the things I have done even though we have not started the 17 day difference yet is comfort my siblings. My sister has been crying and I have comforted her about this. My brothrs are also upset and I have to be the mature one. Which I believe is easier because I didn't know Anthony as well as my other siblings but it still hit me and I was very unhappy and sad.

You may have heard of the Elim tragedy about how six students and one teacher have died after being swept away on the Mangatepopo River near Turangi. We were shocked to find out that one of these was our friend Anthony.

He is one of my little brothers best friend even though he is a teenager and my brother is only 7 years old. Anthony wanted to be a chef and I remember last yea he came round to our place with a Xmas present for Owen. He was a great person and we will miss him but we know that he's happy wherever he is.

Another that came as a shock to me was Floyd Fernandez. He was the ICT technician helper for Powerzone and I remember him greatly. He was there at every holiday programme I went to and now he's gone. But I know that all of the people who died were good and deserved a long full life, but I know they are happy now.

Here is the news stories about this incident:

BEGINNING

My class, Room 12 in NZ, is doing a project called 17 Days To Make a Difference. Today is the first day I've set up this blog (14.4.08). I am looking forward to this experience and sharing it with you.
