Day 17

Today for the final day of Making a Difference I tried to do lots of things.

Today was the last day of term and I also (again) got a doughnut from Mr. Read (thank you!). One of the things I did was at lunchtime I shared my doughnut between my 2 friends. 1/3 each. I know they were thankful for this because they said "thankyou" and that it was "delicious".

I went to a friends house afterschool because we were going to Platinum later that evening. On the way home I gave my friend and her brother some sweets that I got given by my old Year 6 teacher who was leaving for another school. I gave my friends brother Russian Fudge and my friend a green lollipop. On the way home my friends brother was tired and that he didn't want to put the waterbottle (that he drank from!) in his bag or carry it so I carried it all the way to their house.

I lent some of the clothes that I'd taken there, to my friends (who met us at my friends house). I also let them use my new lipgloss.

At Platinum I bought drinks for my friends and I and shared out a packet of Mentos. I also bought some candyfloss to share but I didn't like it that much so they had most of it.

Altogether I think 17 Days to Make a Difference was a good idea because everyone was trying to be much nicer and maybe just little things that we do cheer everyone up just that little bit more.

Day 16

I helped people who were having trouble at Media today. They were thankful because they said thank you and told me that they would have had lots of trouble.

Day 15

I made my brothers afternoon tea and looked after them because Mum wasn't very well today. I think they were happy because they said it was "yummy" and they also said "thankyou."
I also loaded the dishwasher.

Day 14

Today for Day 14 of making a difference it was Owens birthday and I was SUPER-NICE to him all day and downloaded some of my sisters favourite music onto I-Tunes that she'd been wanting for ages.



I know she and he were thankful because Owen said that everyone was being so nice (especially me) and how it was a great birthday. Daiy said thank you as well and gave me a quick hug

Day 13

Today I shared most of my lunch with my friend because she didn't bring a lunch box. Even some of my doughnut that Mr. Read gave to me. By the way thank you Mr. Read for that - it was a really kind thought and I really liked it! I'm sure everyone else who got one did too!

I also stayed up really late making a super cool soccer themed birthday card for Owen late in the night.

Day 12

Today I went to church and we had to make a symbol on a ice lolly stick about people who we don't like that reminds us to be kind to those people whatever they do that is mean to us. So on Sunday I was trying extra, EXTRA hard to be kind to my family.

I don't know if they were happy because they were really tired but I think they were.

Day 11

For Day 11 I made my Dad a nice cup of coffee that he really liked. I did this because he had to wake up early and take me to hockey and it was cold and raining really hard.

Day 10

My sister was in the Sound of Music for the whole week playing the little girl Gretl, so she didn't have to go to school this week and got to stay at Macleans college and sleep in mum's office. She had to go home with us when we went to pick her up and she was really tired so I carried her pillow,lunch box and her duvet. She wasn't very thankful to me but my Dad said to her " Now wasn't that nice of your sister, Daisy - you should thank her"

Day 9

I tidied up the table after dinner. I also looked after my brother's at hockey. No one said thank you but I think they were happy.

Day 8

For Day 8 of Making a Difference, I looked after my brothers while my Dad was tutoring a girl in our kitchen. I made sure the lounge was tidy after the meal and got the brothers dessert. I also took there plates into the kitchen and found a suitable movie for them to watch on the TV. I also got them in the shower.

I know they were thankful because they said thank you and Dad said "Well done."

Day 7

For my 7th Day of Making a Difference I did a couple of things. The first thing that I did was a lady who had come from Australia to look at BBI was having trouble with her i-pod so I showed her what to do. She said thank you, smiled and joked about how she wasn't a very good person with I.T.



Afterschool when I was waiting for Dad to come pick us up from Pigeon Mountain I was watching my brother playing tackling with a boy called Timothy who was my other brothers' friend.My brother who was playing did an expert dodge but poor Timothy wasn't looking where he was going and went - BUMP!- right into a metal pole outside the hall! Ouch! He looked like he was about to cry and I took him to the PMPS office and got him an icepack.



The next thing I did was while I was waiting Alice came and was looking for her brother. I took her to the office. She said thankyou. I hope you found your brother Alice!

Day 6

For my 6th Day of Making a Difference, at dance I shared my freezing cold drink with my friend because she hadn't brought a drink bottle and the dance that we were doing was really tiring and hard - lots and lots of floor work!

I think she was really happy because she said " Oh thank you SOOOO much, Grace. I am so tired and this tastes really good."

Day 5

For my 5th Day of How to Make a Difference I woke up and made toast laden with Nutella for my Dad and brothers. We went to church and there I spread the word for the Sound of Music which is my Mum's production.

I got given a bag of popcorn by my Voltage leader so I went to Powerzone to pick up my brothers and share the popcorn with them, but there was a little girl crying in the corner because her sister had bumped into her with the swing roller and gone off laughing. Her knee was bruised and she was silently crying so no one else noticed except for me ( I was fetching a soccer ball for my brothers). To cheer her up I gave her lot's of popcorn and got a swing roller for her from the cupboard.

Once we got home I made Dad a cup of coffee and helped him with the spaghetti.

After dinner I got banished to my bedroom to tidy up and I found a poster that I wasn't using and my brothers are collecting all the sports posters they can find and putting them up on their wall, but they're not tall enough to reach the spare space. So I took the poster up to their bedroom and they gave me all of their posters and I stuck them up on the wall.

Everyone was very happy with me and my brothers said that the wall looks so cool and that it was really great. My dad hugged me and told me to keep being good.

Day 4

For Day 4 of 17 Days To Make A Difference I had hockey in the morning. After my hockey game I got dropped off at Lloyd Elsmore hockey grounds to watch my brothers play hockey. It was cold and wet but quite interesting to watch. I saw a little girl who was playing at the top of the stands and running away from her mum so I stopped her and gave her back to her mum. The mum smiled and said thank you.

To continue my Day of Making a Difference we went to the barbers to get my brothers a haircut. We were there for approximately 1 and a half hours! They did look cute though. Owen was bored so I read him stuff out of the magazine.

On our way home we dropped off at the supermarket and we bought soup, bread and shortbread cookies. When we got home I helped my Dad make soup and tidied up the kitchen. When it was lunchtime I made everyone drinks.

After lunch I decided to continue with my cooking adventure so I made a jelly trifle thing with crumbled shortbread and peaches. I placed it to set in the fridge.

Everyone was very thankful to me that day and Dad said how extra helpful and great I was being.

Day 3

For my Day 3 of 17 Days to Make a Difference I made dinner for everyone-the dinner was spaghetti on toast. Mum was not there so it was left all up to me. I thought I would be a bit creative so I decided to make dessert as well.

I had to get my brothers in the shower first though so I got them to get in the shower while I created mounds of spaghetti on toast.

They raced up there as soon as they smelt the delicious spaghetti. As only boys could they wolfed it down in about 2 mins and I haven't even made dessert yet!

I decided tomake dessert before I had even made my own food. Guess what it was? BANANA SPLIT

I know they were thankful because Dad said thank you and gave me a kiss on the cheek and Owen, Daisy and Stef said that it wasdelicious and that I should do it every night.

Day 2

Today, for my 2nd day of making a difference, I started off by packing my littlest brothers hockey kit and locating all of his gear which he'd spread all over the house - not an easy task, I tell you!

Afterschool, I looked after my little brothers and my sister.We were at my youngest brothers' hockey practice while my Mum and Dad were doing jobs at school and general things around Auckland. Because my littlest brother was the only one doing hockey and doing something fun I decided to play catch, bounce the soccer ball and tackling with his mini soft soccer ball (Kind of like the soft toy balls you get from McDonalds but bigger). I kept him occupied for ages.

I know that he was thankful for this even though he didn't say it, because he was laughing, running around and having fun when usually he would be sitting curled up in a corner and going on about how he was bored.

My parent also thanked me for looking after my siblings.
